Implemented in the Transit Camp of Gashora, Bugesera Goal: To promote self-reliance and socio-economic inclusion among evacuees from Libya, refugees, asylum seekers, and members of the surrounding host communities. Target population: Asylum Seekers and host community members Area of intervention: Bugesera District
“Be Resilient, Be Self Reliant”
Implemented in Nyamasheke, Karongi, Rubavu and Rutsiro districts, to reduce vulnerability and incidence of HIV and GBV among 80,000 HIV infected / affected households.

Samuel Hagirimana opened a corner shop after receiving a Rwf 800,000 cash grant and benefiting from the training organized by the Graduation Project. One year afte, he managed to buy a farmland measuring approximately one hectare, a forest he plans to sell at a profit. He has also bought a cow to get manure and milk for his family.

Ethan Jean Bosco, a young Burundian refugee in Mahama Camp, runs a food trading business, earns about Rwf 150,000 monthly, employs two people, and has grown his capital to Rwf 3 million, thanks to the training and a Rwf 800,000 cash grant received from the Graduation Project.

Caritas Rwanda and diocesan Caritas representatives gathered in Huye to review achievements, share successful approaches, and strengthen strategies for the upcoming Charity and Mercy Month campaign. Through shared experiences and renewed commitments, participants aim to increase community participation and mobilize greater support for vulnerable people across Rwanda.

Caritas Rwanda and Caritas Kabgayi are nurturing a new generation of Church leaders committed to compassion, justice, and service. Through an awareness session at Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, seminarians deepened their understanding of the Caritas mission and reaffirmed their commitment to placing the poor at the center of their pastoral ministry, inspired by the Gospel and the Church’s social teaching.

Caritas Rwanda is strengthening the Caritas Spirit among future Church leaders through awareness sessions in major seminaries across the country. At Saint Joseph Rutongo Major Seminary, seminarians deepened their understanding of the Church’s mission of charity, the importance of serving the most vulnerable, and their role in promoting compassion, solidarity, and human dignity in their future ministries.

With funding from the European Union through World Vision Rwanda, Caritas Rwanda launched the Dukore Twigire Project in Karongi District to strengthen the resilience and self-reliance of refugees and host communities. Running from 2025 to 2028, the project will support 598 households through livelihoods, financial inclusion, and social protection interventions.
