Ethan Jean Bosco, a young Burundian refugee in Mahama Camp, runs a food trading business, earns about Rwf 150,000 monthly, employs two people, and has grown his capital to Rwf 3 million, thanks to the training and a Rwf 800,000 cash grant received from the Graduation Project.
Ethan Jean Bosco, is a young Burundian refugee living in Mahama refugee camp, selling fruits, vegetables, honey, various flours, cereals and other type of food in Mahama market II. Ethan relates the success of his income-generating activity to various trainings and cash grant worth Frw 800,000, received from Graduation, a UNHCR funded project and implemented by Caritas Rwanda.
“I was used to cultivating other's land to earn an income to survive, however, after receiving the cash grant in June 2023, I started buying and selling the production of those who were my employers, and I am happy I contribute to the living of 2 employees. I earning Frw150,000 on a monthly basis after deducting all costs”, testifies Ethan. Ethan’s life has changed for the better, the relationship with saving group and microfinance institutions improved and he has a capital worth Frw 3,000,000, above the basic needs’ satisfaction.
